💚🌊 The GreenWave Podcast By Synergy International 🌊💚 Episode 22 is out and you don't want to miss this one!

The Global Green Hydrogen Subsidy Race, Part I

SYNI is taking you on a whirlwind tour through the global green hydrogen subsidy race. If that sounds like a mouthful, well, it's because the world is biting off quite a lot – pouring unprecedented funds into turning the lightest element in the universe into a heavyweight climate solution. Green hydrogen is touted as a game-changer for decarbonising heavy industries and storing renewable energy, but there's a catch: it's still significantly more expensive to produce than its polluting predecessors. The solution? Governments around the world opening their coffers with all the subtlety of a kid in a candy store. In this episode, we'll navigate the twists and turns of this international contest – from massive tax credits and grants to clever auctions and even a bit of geopolitical jockeying – all aimed at making green hydrogen commercially viable. World Hydrogen Summit 2025: Where's the Buzz in Rotterdam?

💚 🌊 World Hydrogen Summit 2025: Where's the Buzz in Rotterdam? 🌊 💚 You’ll be forgiven if you're not feeling any major positive buzz coming out of the 2025 World Hydrogen Summit in Rotterdam. Conference fatigue is real in the renewable energy and governance space — too many declarations, not enough diggers in the ground. It’s easy to feel like we’re stuck in a loop of panels, pilots, and PowerPoints.

🟢 So allow us our moment of ennui given the big theme from WHS is “Hydrogen is no longer just a future bet — it’s happening now.” We've heard that before. But this year, there’s one difference: some of it is actually true. Multiple giga-scale projects are now moving beyond talk and into steel-and-concrete territory — and for once, the big capital is following.

⚡ Countries like India came to play. With their Green Hydrogen Mission in motion and export ambitions on full display, they weren’t just here to observe — they were pitching real capacity. Europe talked regulation (again), the Gulf states flexed scale (again), but India brought the pragmatic firepower of rapid buildout and aggressive targets. And Japan also made an exciting announcement about its Contract for Difference Clean Hydrogen subsidy program. Read more...

Chinese Battery Titan CATL Flexes Considerable Capital Muscle

💚 🌊 Chinese Battery Titan CATL Flexes Considerable Capital Muscle 🌊 💚 Just when China might be getting bored of displaying its dominance in global renewable energy development, CATL—its homegrown battery titan—just lit up capital markets with a $4.6 billion secondary share listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the largest global listing so far this year. Oh, and a quick side note: US domestic investors weren’t needed—or invited—to this particular Chinese show.

🚀🧨 Shares in CATL have surged 16% after their debut, pushing the company’s market cap to $166 billion. This wasn't just a regional play. Backers included Kuwait’s sovereign wealth fund, the Agnelli family’s investment arm, and Oaktree Capital (Oopps, will Howard Marks now receive a one-way invite to the White House from The Donald?) The message? Global appetite for China’s battery supremacy is alive and well, even as American policymakers try to slow the roll. Read more...

This One's Dedicated to Our Fellow GH2 Nerds in the Audience

💚 🌊 This One's Dedicated to Our Fellow GH2 Nerds in the Audience 🌊 💚 There is a bit of a storm taking place currently within the teacup world of Green Hydrogen at the moment. At cause is the European Union's draft Low-Carbon Hydrogen Delegated Act, which seeks to ensure that only hydrogen produced with genuinely low greenhouse gas emissions qualifies for public support and the “low-carbon” label.

🇪🇺 The EU is drawing a firm line in the sand regarding H2 —and it's about time. It's asking the pesky question, "Is all 'low-carbon hydrogen' really low-carbon?" And that's upsetting some people in the GH2 industry, while reassuring others that there are guideposts to sustainable legitimacy. Read more...
