Mr Elderson, known for the purposes of this post as SuperFrank, has been starring in the role of supervisory superhero when it comes to the ECB's recent verdicts on member banks’ application towards sustainability.
🏛️He gave some credit on the one hand, expressing satisfaction on the overall increase in preparation for the banking system as a whole. But then he took away on the other, outing "naughty-nine" Euro banks (who shall remain nameless) which fell below the ECB's minimum expectations on management of climate and other environmental risks. There seems to be an important philosophical distinction behind the multi-million euros of subsidies. The Spanish state actually understands best that the private sector is doing the really heavy lifting on its behalf, and that the nation is in the optimal position to reap all the benefits as a sustainable energy enabler.
💶 €400 million in public funds announced this week is now being directed to accelerate Spain’s role in hydrogen development, with commercial-scale facilities leading the charge. Let's be clear, these are highly strategic investments. But we respectfully suggest you're missing the more important issue of China's rising domination in Electric Semi Trucks. ⚡️ While most of the world still wrestles with pilot programs and subsidies, China has already sold nearly 30,000 electric heavy trucks in the first half of this year alone. That’s more than double the number sold in all of 2023.
